In one of the projects completed by the team, they created a design using a combination of metal, wood, and glass elements. When you go through the residential wine cellar pictures, you will see a small table with six chairs, which provide a place for sipping a glass of wine with family and friends.
The drinking area design has a neutral palette consisting of white walls, ivory chairs, dark brown flooring, and a table. A big indoor plant adds a pop of color to the room.

One of the goals of Coastal Custom Wine Cellars was to make the home wine cellar grab attention. One of the ways to achieve this was to choose darker hues of blacks and browns for the wine cellar. They mixed wood and metal wine racks, resulting in a striking wine display that will amaze anyone who sees it.
Inspiring Wine Racks in Wine Cellar Pictures
The racking design plays a significant role in achieving the overall mood, ambiance, and functionality of a wine room. Incorporating various racking styles will create a unique appeal that will stun guests. In this project, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars installed custom wine racks on the three walls.
In the wine cellar pictures below, you will see the top section of the back wall consisting of a 3-layer wooden shelving that provides storage space for the client’s wine accessories and memorabilia. The team added a rectangular opening with a countertop for decanting wine.
The opening is flanked by wall-mounted metal wine racks (W Series) from VintageView. For maximum storage capacity, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars chose triple-deep wine racks. Two rods can hold three bottles securely in place. The high-reveal display row on both sides of the countertop stores the bottles at an angle, keeping the cork moist.
Instead of installing them on drywall, they placed the racking on a backer board, which is ½ inch away from the main wall. The backer board allowed the Coastal team to install LED strip lighting on the backside. The result was a dramatic reversed spotlight effect that gives the wine cellar character.
At the bottom section, you will find a wooden racking that stores the bottles individually with the cap facing out. Coastal Custom Wine Cellars added a metal racking on both sides.
The racking on the left and right walls are mirrored wine racks. They have the same racking styles, including a column of wall-mounted metal wine racks on the sides of four wooden shelves. The wine racks are attached to a wooden backer board. The wooden racking below it consists of a high reveal display row and a 3-layer open shelving.
Glass Wine Cellar Door for a Modern Wine Display
In addition to the elegant wine rack design created by Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, the team installed a framed glass door to allow the client’s wine collection to be visible from the drinking area.
The stainless steel framing is well-insulated to help create an airtight seal inside the wine cellar. There should be no cold air leaking from the wine room and hot air entering it.
A lack of or poor insulation will cause temperature fluctuations and varying humidity levels. When this happens, mold will grow on the cork and affect the wine.
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars used closed-cell spray foam, a type of insulation known for its reliability and efficiency. It can fill in even the smallest gaps between the door and the walls and flooring.
They also installed weather stripping and U-channels. It is similar to the rubber gaskets sold by hardware stores for homes. However, the type of weather stripping used in climate-controlled wine rooms differs. The thermally insulated dual-paned glass has a thickness of ½ inch.
Wine Cellar Refrigeration Systems: Ideal Option for a Modern Glass Wine Cellar
The key to achieving the ideal wine storage environment is by installing a reliable wine cooling system in your wine room. At Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, they offer wine refrigeration systems from top-notch manufacturers, including US Cellar Systems.
In this project, you cannot see the wine cooling unit in the wine cellar pictures. Steve Pantalemon, the lead designer of the Coastal team, made a careful assessment before choosing the type and size of the wine cooling system for the project. They installed an HS 8600 High-Static Cooling Series refrigeration system. It is a ducted split cooling unit, allowing the team to install the condenser outdoors and the evaporator in an adjacent room. There is no visible equipment in the wine cellar; only two registers on the ceiling for the inflow and return of air.
