In one of our home wine cellar renovation jobs, our previous client wanted to renovate the simple wine cellar with a wet bar located in the living area, which we built about six years ago. We worked closely with the owners, and with proper planning and design, the result of this project was awesome!

Designing the Orange County Home Wine Cellar

Working with a reliable builder for your Orange County home wine cellar renovation project will ensure that everything is in place and that all your requirements are met. Our team is composed of designers, installers, and HVAC specialists who have extensive knowledge and experience in building refrigerated custom wine cellars.

We offer innovative wine storage solutions for every budget. With keen attention to detail, we always make sure that we exceed our client’s expectations. The racking design has a significant impact on the overall appeal of your wine cellar. Therefore, it is vital to hire a designer with the passion and creativity needed to create a unique wine display for your home.

In this project, we created a design that would display our client’s wine collection attractively and increase the bottle capacity of their existing wine storage system. We submitted a design proposal consisting of 3-dimensional drawings. The images show the different elevation views, dimensions, racking design, and bottle capacities.

We combined various racking styles to accommodate 700 bottles and add character to the wine cellar space. We combined wood and metal elements to achieve a wine cellar with distinctive features.

Wood’s timeless appeal makes it still a favorite choice in wine room construction. Wooden wine racks are ideal for wine collectors who want to create an Earthy, warm feel inside their wine cellar. In this wine room, you will find wooden wine racks on the right and back walls, well-lit with LED lights.

Upon entering the wine room, the floor-to-ceiling-height wine racks on the right wall consist of various bottle configurations to accommodate different bottle sizes. The wooden case storage bins allow the owners to store wines in bulk. We placed runners in each case to prevent scratching the wine racks when you slide the cases out. There are 2-column individual wine racks on both sides of this section.

The top of the right wall consists of single bottle storage racks and a wooden grill cove that hides the wine cooling unit. Below it are horizontal display wine racks intended to hold standard and large-format bottles horizontally. We created a cascading effect using removable trays, placing the smaller tray at the front and a taller tray at the back. We also added a high-revel display row that holds the bottles at a 15-degree angle. The middle section has a tabletop that provides space for decanting and serving wines.

Back Wall with Half-Height Wine Racks

The back wall consists of an exterior window above the half-height racking with a tabletop. Windows are not recommended in wine cellars. However, in this case, there is no direct sunlight facing the window, so it would not cause any storage issues. No window treatment was done. Below the tabletop, you will see the diamond bins at the center and individual wine racks on both sides.

Metal Wine Racks: In Demand in Orange County Home Wine Cellar Renovation Projects

Metal wine racks look classy and offer design flexibility. In this project, we utilized metal wine racks from VintageView. The label-forward metal racking shows the wine labels so that it would be easier to read the wine description. The components of these modern wine racks are made from high-grade materials and are available in various finish options to suit your preferences.

Contemporary Glass Wine Cellar Door and Glass Wall

We installed a glass wine cellar door made from glass and steel, facing the right side of the living area. The wall you can see from the living room is also made of glass with an arch shape, providing a beautiful view of the wines inside.

The glass panels were thermally insulated to prevent condensation build-up that can cause wine storage problems in the future. We also installed the weather stripping necessary to seal all the gaps around the door and prevent air leakage.

Wine Cellar Cooling Unit

In this inspiring Orange County home wine cellar renovation project, we utilized a wine cooling unit from LRC. It is a Rack Mounted (RM) refrigeration system, allowing the evaporator to be mounted within the racking. The condenser, which is the noisier component, is located outdoors, resulting in a quiet operation.
